The pilot phase of the European project STEAM Bo.SS – STEAM Boosting Soft Skills, co-funded by the Erasmus+ KA2 – Cooperation Partnerships programme and coordinated by IFOA (Italy), has successfully come to an end.
Over the past months, students and trainers from the partner countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal and Estonia) have had the opportunity to take part in innovative learning activities based on the STEAM approach, which integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Through this interdisciplinary methodology, participants have developed key soft skills, such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving, increasingly valued by today’s labour market.
The pilot activities were designed using the materials and tools developed within the project, including the MOOC “STEAM Boosting Soft Skills”, now available online to teachers and trainers across Europe. Through hands-on workshops and interdisciplinary projects, students were able to tackle real-life challenges and design creative solutions that combined technical, scientific and artistic perspectives.
The STEAM Bo.SS project brings together several members of the Ulixes European network, including IFOA (Italy), EDUGEP (Portugal) and CIPFP Misericordia (Spain), who are jointly committed to promoting innovative educational practices and strengthening the international dimension of vocational education and training. The partnership also includes UNIMORE – University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy) and Saaremaa Gümnaasium (Estonia), fostering a close dialogue between education, training and the labour market.
The next key milestone will take place in November 2025, with an international online Hackathon that will bring together students from all partner countries in mixed transnational teams. During the event, participants will collaborate to address common challenges, apply the skills acquired during the project, and co-create innovative ideas and solutions in a truly European setting.
Through STEAM Bo.SS, the partners aim to promote an educational approach that strengthens the connection between training and employment, helping young people to build the soft skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing job market and to shape a more sustainable, creative and inclusive future.
